Job summary

Hethersett Academy, part of Inspiration Trust, is seeking an outstanding Teacher of Science to join a dedicated team in Norwich. This 0.5 FTE post runs 16.25 hours over three days from January 2027, teaching the science curriculum and supporting pupils to achieve high standards.

You will collaborate with the science team to embed knowledge-rich approaches, monitor pupil progress, deliver interventions, and contribute to enrichment.

Qualifications

• Must have an appropriate degree and QTS.
• QT S status or be on track to achieve QTS.
• Knowledge of Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Child Protection.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the wider community.
• Knowledge of the subject to undergraduate level and different teaching approaches.
• Experience teaching science in a secondary school across the 11-16 age range.
• Experience as a form tutor and supporting personal development.
• Experience examining the subject for an appropriate exam board.
• Experience using digital platforms to create and share teaching resources.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional conduct and engage in performance management and professional development.
• Collaborate with colleagues, external agencies, and the Senior Leadership Team.
• Participate in meetings, QA processes, and school events outside normal hours.
• Promote the Trust and Academy’s ethos, policies, procedures, and Health & Safety standards.
• Ensure safeguarding, welfare, attendance, punctuality, and behaviour monitoring and support.
• Serve as a form tutor delivering pastoral programmes and supervising pupils.
• Teach the curriculum, prepare pupils for examinations, and provide interventions and revision lessons.
• Plan collaboratively, set homework, adapt teaching for SEND/EAL, and maintain high standards of pupil work.
• Assess pupil progress, evaluate teaching approaches, and provide reports and references.
• Contribute to school life and enrichment activities.
