Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced School Caretaker for a lovely primary school in Wandsworth, starting January 2026. This part-time role offers a commitment until July 2026, with the potential to become full-time. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, managing maintenance, and assisting with delivery of goods, while adhering to safeguarding policies. Experience as a School Caretaker is essential, along with the ability to provide an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• A good level of fitness.
• Be able to work independently and handle emergencies.
• Have practical DIY and basic technical skills.
• To have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the school is clean and safe; manage waste and perform general maintenance.
• Ensure the school is secure and report any defects.
• Open and lock the school gates.
• Support and assist with delivery of goods to the site.
• Conduct daily and weekly checks of the school buildings and playground.
• Construct shelves and cupboards within the classes.
• Ensure Health & Safety policies are adhered to and complete regular checks.
• Assist with setting up assemblies, classrooms, and events as required.
• Perform admin duties such as maintaining maintenance records & supplies.
