We’re looking for a reliable, compassionate and friendly Personal Assistant to provide 3 hours of support each week, alternating between a Tuesday and Thursday. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys making a positive difference, building a trusting relationship and supporting an individual to live as independently as possible.
The role will involve a varied mix of domestic, social and practical support, including helping with food shopping and meal preparation, laundry, keeping the home tidy and supporting with occasional household tasks. You’ll also help the individual get out and about, arrange social visits and maintain connections with friends and the wider community.
A key part of the role is supporting with Cooper, a friendly dog who is currently being trained to become an assistance dog. It is essential that applicants genuinely like dogs and are completely comfortable being around them as part of their working day. Support with Cooper may include helping with walks, including holding his lead, attending training sessions, ordering his food and supporting social outings to places such as shops and cafés. Cooper is an important part of the individual’s day-to-day life, so applicants must be confident and willing to actively engage with him as part of the role.
We’re looking for someone who is friendly, patient, respectful, organised and proactive, with a genuine desire to encourage independence. You’ll need to be comfortable working around dogs, able to work independently and willing to follow established routines.
A full driving licence and access to a car are not essential for this role, provided you are able to reliably travel to and from the place of work. Where appropriate, support with getting out into the community may involve travelling by other means.
If you’re looking for a rewarding role where just a few hours each week can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
