Job Title: Morning Nursery Lead / Nursery Assistant
Location: Rochester (Primary School)
Start Date: February 2026 – July 2026
Hours: 8:30am – 12:00pm, Monday–Friday
Salary: £15 per hour
Contract: Part-Time, Fixed Term

Are you passionate about supporting young children in their earliest stages of learning? Do you have a nurturing, patient approach and a love for early years education? Do you have experience working with Nursery-aged children or supporting SEND needs?

TeacherActive is working with a warm, caring and community-focused primary school in Rochester. The school has a welcoming early-years environment, a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, and a commitment to helping young children grow in confidence, independence and early learning skills. Their Nursery provision is well-supported, structured and nurturing, with a child-led, play-based approach.

We are seeking a Morning Nursery Lead/Assistant to join the school from February 2026 to July 2026 on a part-time basis. This role involves supporting the Nursery class during morning sessions, working with both individuals and small groups, and helping to create a safe, stimulating and encouraging learning environment.

  • Supporting the delivery of engaging, play-based learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework
  • Assisting with the planning and preparation of morning sessions (or leading elements of sessions if appointed as a Lead)
  • Providing nurturing, responsive support to children aged 3–4, including those with SEND needs
  • Observing children’s development and contributing to progress notes and assessments
  • Encouraging social interaction, communication, independence and early learning skills
  • Creating a calm, safe and stimulating environment that reflects the children's interests
  • Supporting personal care routines where necessary
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and other support staff
  • Communicating positively with parents and carers when required
  • Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are consistently followed
The successful Nursery Lead/Assistant will have:
  • Experience working in an Early Years or Nursery setting
  • A caring, patient and nurturing personality
  • Strong understanding of EYFS development and early learning
  • Confidence supporting children 1:1 and in small groups
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Good communication and behaviour management skills
