A well-established and respected law firm based in the heart of Maidstone is looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join their supportive and friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with experience in legal accounting to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the firm.

The Role

As the firm's Legal Cashier, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day financial activities of the practice, ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. You'll work closely with the wider team, supporting both fee earners and the management team in all financial matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile client and office accounts in line with SRA Accounts Rules
  • Process client and office payments (BACS, CHAPS, cheques, card payments)
  • Monitor and manage daily banking, including reconciliations and bank transfers
  • Process invoices, expense claims, and supplier payments
  • Assist with VAT returns, month‑end procedures, and financial reporting
  • Liaise with fee earners on financial queries and support compliance processes
  • Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
  • Experience using legal accounting software (e.g., LEAP, Xero, or similar)
