About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Gas Detection / Instrumentation Service Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a skilled engineer looking for flexibility while continuing to apply their expertise in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of gas detection / instrumentation systems across industrial and commercial environments.

You will work independently, delivering high-quality service to our customers while supporting ongoing service commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, and service gas detection and instrumentation systems.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and repair faults to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers where required.
  • Complete service documentation, calibration certificates, and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Represent the company professionally on client sites.
  • Support the wider business and be flexible enough to undertake other activities to support a growing small business
Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience in gas detection, instrumentation, or closely related electronic/electrical service engineering.
  • Strong understanding of sensors, transmitters, Industrial/Measurement Instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good organisation and time-management skills suitable for part-time work.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Experience in industrial, oil & gas, utilities, or manufacturing settings.
  • COMPEX, ATEX, ECS/CSCS, or similar certification.
