Job summary

Bury College is seeking a part-time lecturer in the Personal Development, Vocational & Foundation department to teach Functional Skills English. You will plan and deliver inclusive lessons in reading, writing, speaking and listening, assess learners and provide feedback on progress.

Applicants should have qualifications in English and experience teaching varied abilities. The role involves developing resources, differentiating instruction, keeping records and contributing to curriculum

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in English, with subject knowledge to teach Functional Skills English.
• Experience of teaching learners with a wide range of abilities and starting points.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inclusive, high-quality Functional Skills English lessons.
• Develop learners' reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication skills.
• Carry out formative and summative assessment to track progress.
• Differentiate learning for varied abilities, starting points and prior experience.
• Give timely, constructive feedback to support learner development.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, targets and destinations.
• Develop and maintain learning resources and e-learning materials.
• Contribute to curriculum development and respond to changes in Functional Skills English requirements.
• Reflect on teaching practice and improve learner experience and outcomes.
• Advise and guide learners including prospective and progressing students.
• Participate in standardisation, quality assurance and internal verification.
