Job summary

NHS Shetland is hiring a Food Services Assistant on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). The role covers Friday servery duties and weekend kitchen support, contributing to patient meals and staff and visitor catering.

You will work across two catering settings, gain NHS-standard training, and support patient care with safe food handling and customer service. PVG checks may be required prior to offer.

Responsibilities

• Fridays – Servery: Customer-facing work including food service, basic cooking, food handling, stock control, cleaning and providing a warm, friendly service.
• Saturdays & Sundays – Main Production Kitchen: Supporting the preparation of patient meals, food trolleys, and keeping everything clean, safe, and running smoothly.
