Job summary

Aspire Jobs in the United Kingdom is seeking a Customs Administrator to advise freight companies on commodity codes and customs procedure codes and to liaise with freight agents to ensure accurate data for inward processing.

You will verify entries, reference CPCs and commodity codes against original data, and record details in Quantum while participating in review meetings as required.

Responsibilities

• Advising all freight companies currently involved in the importation of goods on behalf of our client on the appropriate commodity code and customs procedure codes
• Liaising with freight agents/importers to ascertain the correct commodity code using data from their IT system, external reports and data from the vendor's customs invoice
• Ascertain the appropriate Customs Procedure Code (CPC) from the trade-tariff website
• Oversee that all information is sent through to the requestor so they can complete the inward processing
• Checking and verifying that all customer entries are correct as per the original data provided
• Using customs entries to verify that the correct Commodity Code and CPC were used, referring back to the importer for verification in case of conflicts
• Verifying all information and adding the customs entry number to Quantum, while updating the Customs Status accordingly
• Attending review meetings as and when required.

Job Duties of the Customs Administrator:

• Advising all freight companies currently involved in the importation of goods from overseas on behalf of our client of the appropriate commodity code and customs procedure codes
• Liaising with freight agents/importers, ascertaining the correct commodity code by using the data within their IT system, external reports and data received on the vendors customs invoice
• Ascertain the appropriate Customs Procedure Code (CPC) from the trade-tariff website;
• Oversee all the information is sent through to the requestor, so they can complete the inward processing
• Checking and verifying that all customer entries are correct as per the original data provided
• Using customs entry, verify that the correct Commodity Code and CPC were used by referring back to the information supplied from the original request. If there is a conflict in the information, refer back to the importer for verification
• Verifying all the information and add the customs entry number to Quantum, whilst updating the Customs Status accordingly
• Attending review meetings as and when required.
