Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Research Nurse / Research Practitioner (CRP) for a part-time 24-hour week to join the Research and Innovation team. The role covers a range of specialties and clinical trials, requiring strong organisation, attention to detail, and substantial clinical research experience.

You will coordinate a portfolio of studies, identify eligible participants, support informed consent, coordinate assessments and follow-up, and maintain

Qualifications

• Essential: NMC registration or CRP accreditation or equivalent experience.
• Essential: Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Experience delivering research studies including CTIMPs and device trials.
• Experience in new study feasibility and setup.
• Experience of dealing with patients and families in distress.
• Experience with study databases and CRMs (e.g. EDGE).
• Experience using MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience in ophthalmic care and plastic surgery specialties.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the research-related care of participants in a portfolio of studies.
• Identify eligible participants through clinics, operating lists and referrals.
• Provide clear study information and obtain informed consent where trained.
• Coordinate protocol-required assessments, investigations and follow-up.
• Collect, process and store biological samples per study protocols.
• Monitor adverse events and ensure safety information is documented and reported.
• Maintain source documentation and study documentation to inspection standards.
• Lead study feasibility, setup, initiation and liaison with investigators, sponsors and departments.
• Monitor recruitment performance and identify barriers to improve access and delivery.
• Promote research awareness among clinical teams and deliver studies to protocol and regulatory standards.
