Job summary

Castle Village in Berkhamsted is seeking a part-time Chef to join our culinary team. The role involves 19 hours per week across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts, with duties spanning cooking, food preparation, and kitchen management to maintain high standards for residents and guests.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and team, contributing to menu planning, ensuring dietary needs are met and helping control costs. A passion for nutritious meals and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older people would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A team player with a passion for delivering exceptional food and service.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evening shifts as part of the rota.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of high quality meals, following established recipes and portion controls.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen, supervising the team when required and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Contribute to menu planning and development, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
• Help maintain stock levels and minimise food waste while supporting food cost control.
• Deliver a positive and professional service to residents, visitors, and colleagues.
