Job summary

ProfessionLX seeks a part-time Catholic Music Director to support the RAF Lakenheath Chapel in England. The role partners with the Catholic Chaplain to deliver liturgically appropriate music for Mass, including selection of music for seasons, leading singing and cantoring, and developing a volunteer choir.

The ideal candidate will read scores, train volunteers, and maintain a diverse Catholic repertoire, while ensuring copyright compliance and appropriate liturgical practice.

Qualifications

• Strong background in music and vocal leadership within liturgical settings.
• Ability to read and interpret vocal/instrumental scores, including Gregorian chant.
• Knowledge of Catholic liturgy, practices and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Direct and perform musical and vocal elements of Catholic Mass with the Chaplain.
• Lead congregational singing and cantoring for services and Holy Days.
• Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to support the parish music program.
• Coordinate weekly rehearsals and schedule choir participation.
• Ensure repertoire respects copyright rules and liturgical norms.
