Job summary

An independent business operations consultancy is seeking a proactive Part-Time Bookkeeper/Finance Executive to support their finance function. This role involves managing supplier invoices, payroll processing, and HMRC reporting among other responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have at least an AAT Level 2 qualification, strong Excel skills, and experience with payroll. This position offers hybrid working after training and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • AAT Level 2 (minimum) relevant qualification.
  • Strong Excel skills for financial tasks.
  • Experience running payroll is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Process, check and pay supplier invoices and employee expenses.
  • Prepare and issue client invoices.
  • Complete HMRC reporting.
  • Provide back-up administration for pension and healthcare schemes.
  • Run payroll following full training.
  • Prepare management accounts, including P&L reports.
  • Ensure accurate financial filing and record management.

Role Overview

They are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Part-Time Bookkeeper/Finance Executive to support their finance function and wider business operations. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working within a small, collaborative team and is looking to grow their skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Finance Administration

  • Process, check and pay supplier invoices and employee expenses
  • Prepare and issue client invoices
  • Complete HMRC reporting (VAT, P60s, P45s, P11Ds and other statutory submissions)
  • Provide back-up administration for the company pension scheme
  • Provide back-up administration for the company private healthcare scheme
  • Run payroll following full training
  • Prepare management accounts, including P&L reports
  • Ensure accurate financial filing and record management
What We're Looking For
  • AAT Level 2 (minimum)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience running payroll using a computerised system (QuickBooks desirable but not essential)
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to support colleagues
  • Someone who thrives within a small team environment
  • Ability to reliably commute to our Reading-area office within 45 minutes (hybrid after training 2 days a week from home)
