Job summary

A reputable distribution business in Heywood is recruiting a Part Time Bookkeeper with at least 3 years of experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing monthly accounts to trial balance, overseeing ledgers, and performing VAT returns. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant.
  • Experience of managing invoice queries confidently.
  • Ability to process monthly accounts and oversee ledgers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all invoice related queries and ensure cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Conduct Bank Reconciliations and manage customer invoices.

Skills

Strong knowledge of transactional accounting duties
Preparation of accounts to trial balance
Previous Sales ledger and Purchase ledger experience
Bookkeeping knowledge and experience
Good level of communication skills

Education

AAT qualification and/or Part qualified Accountant

Square Peg Associates is working with a highly skilled distribution business in Heywood, who is recruiting for a Part Time Bookkeeper with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. They are seeking a professional and experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant, to process monthly accounts to trial balance including overseeing the purchase and sales ledger duties as well as the VAT.

The role is office based with flexible hours available. Ideally 25-30 hours. Negotiable.

Salary is dependent upon the level of experience, circa £27,000 - £30,000k pro rata per annum - negotiable.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, managing all invoice related queries with confidence
  • Making BACS payments, and following up on outstanding payments to ensure cash flow is maintained (Credit Control)
  • Bank Reconciliations, ensuring that the financial records align with bank statements
  • Responsible for the accurate allocation of all customer invoices and receipts
  • VAT process, prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Processing supplier queries
  • Daily use of Sage Software and Excel
  • General admin duties and other ad-hoc duties
Ideal Candidate
  • Strong knowledge of transactional accounting duties
  • Preparation of accounts to trial balance
  • Previous Sales ledger and Purchase ledger experience
  • Bookkeeping knowledge and experience
  • Ideally have an AAT qualification and / or Part qualified Accountant
  • Experience of using finance Software, preferably Sage and Excel is essential
  • A good level of communication skills, someone who is highly customer driven
