Job summary

Birkbeck University of London invites applications for an Associate Lecturer to deliver the Introduction to Cognition module (Level 4) for the Spring term. The post is part-time, fixed-term, with sessions on Tuesdays 2–5 pm and 6–9 pm, and entails preparation, delivery and assessment alongside module colleagues.

Requirements include a Psychology degree, either pursuing or completed PhD in Psychology, and HE teaching experience with adult learners; IT and Moodle/Teams familiarity is expected.

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology.
• Pursuing or completed a PhD in Psychology or related area.
• Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
• Able to relate to adult learners and engage their needs and interests.
• Experience of a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
• Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• IT literacy including Word, Excel, email; Moodle & Teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching to Birkbeck students and undertake related course administration.
• Prepare, teach, administer and assess the Introduction to Cognition module (Level 4).
• Coordinate with the module convenor to organise, deliver and assess the module.
• Support adult learners and adapt methods to diverse needs.
• Assist with timetable and assessment logistics; manage 10 sessions across specified times.
