Job summary

Potter Clarkson LLP in Nottingham is seeking a patent attorney to join our offices. You will work with tech entrepreneurs, in-house IP teams and clients from overseas, handling filing and prosecution while delivering strategic, commercially focussed IP advice.

Qualifications

• Excellent English language skills and ability to communicate clearly.
• 2–4 years’ experience in the patent profession and having passed at least some foundations exams.

Based in our Nottingham office, you will have an amazing opportunity to work with tech entrepreneurs, early-stage investors and in-house IP departments across a wide range of technologies, as well as handling filing and patent prosecution for clients from overseas. Working with experienced IP professionals recognised as world leading IP strategists, you can expect to grow your professional skillset in providing strategic, commercially focussed advice, learning to deliver our expanding range of IP Consultancy products developed for this purpose. You will inevitably spend a great deal of time working with direct clients and collaborating with our team of IP solicitors on both contentious and non-contentious legal matters.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have strong technical and legal skills as a patent attorney and be passionate about their professional and personal development, whilst working within a collaborative team environment. Candidates will also have a keen interest in the growth of our business and the further development of the services offered to our clients.

The successful candidate should also possess;

• Excellent English language skills and an ability to communicate both clearly and concisely;

• Ideally, 2 to 4 years’ experience in the patent profession having passed at least some of the foundations exams or equivalent;

• A demonstrable ability to learn quickly;

• A technical background in the physical sciences / electronics / software; and

• Diligence, motivation and a client-orientated, commercially focussed attitude.
