Qualifications

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our Specialist Team as a Parkinson's Nurse / Practitioner at Betsi Cadwaladr University Hospital Trust, working closely with Neurology, the care of the elderly team and the rehabilitation team.

Working closely with the post holder will facilitate achievement of a quality patient experience, whilst acting within clearly defined policies/procedure guidelines, and codes of conduct.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

A band 6 training post will be considered for suitable applicants who do not meet all the essential criteria.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse / Degree in Nursing
• Independent Prescribing qualification and MSc level study

Knowledge

• Highly specialist clinical knowledge of Parkinson's disease and related disorders acquired through nursing patients with Parkinson’s disease
• Experience in specialist teaching / supervision skills

Specialist Knowledge

• Highly developed knowledge of complex specialist Parkinson's medication and experience of initiation of Parkinson's Disease medication
• Possess intermediate IT skills
• Ability to initiate and manage change to meet service requirements. Ability to produce business case to enable service development. Develop protocols for specialist Parkinson's services which impact on other disciplines. Propose policy and service changes which impact on the wider health community
• Ability to speak Welsh
