Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a proactive legal support professional to join the Countryside and Rights of Way team. The role involves providing administrative and practical support to the legal team on Definitive Map Modification Order casework, with training provided.

We offer remote work with attendance at the Stafford office on flexible patterns, part-time options, and a comprehensive local government benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Providing full administrative and practical support to the Countryside and Rights of Way legal team in relation to Definitive Map Modification Order casework, including consultations, notices, public hearings and inquiries.
  • Adhering to the Legal Services Unit’s LEXCEL quality standards.
  • Handling confidential data securely in line with policy.
  • Other duties as reasonably required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing full administrative and practical support to the Countryside and Rights of Way legal team in relation to Definitive Map Modification Order casework including assisting with consultation processes, arranging publication and service of legal notices, arranging public hearings and inquiries and providing support in relation to the same.
  • Adhering to the Legal Services Unit’s LEXCEL quality standards.
  • Handling confidential data sensitively and securely in accordance with policy.
  • Such other duties as may reasonably be required.
The Ideal Candidate
The minimum criteria that will be used to shortlist for this role will be:

Whilst no previous experience in countryside and rights of way law is necessary, we are looking for a minimum of A-level or equivalent standard of education or extensive experience in a similar role, with:

  • Strong organisational skills and a proficiency to record and monitor progress on existing excel spreadsheets
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to use own initiative
  • excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • local authority knowledge preferred but not essential.
  • Strong I.T skills

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 19 October 2026.

Fixed Term Contract until March 2028
