JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Alston & Birds London office is conducting a search for a paralegal to assist attorneys across our Corporate Finance and Investment Funds Practice Groups. Candidates should be self-starters highly organized and team players. Overtime is often needed to meet client deadlines.
  2. Reviewing and analysing matters for the purpose of preparing status reports to fee earners and clients
  3. Reviewing outlining and summarizing documents
  4. Proofreading and marking legal documents and contracts
  5. Manage and assist with the closing of various transactions including preparation coordination and organization of corporate approvals conditions precedent checklists and transaction bibles
  6. Collating signatures to transaction documents.
  7. Performing assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems
  8. Prepare and conduct filings / searches and assist fee earners in the preparation of filings
  9. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  10. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when evaluating legal matters
  11. Ability to proofread typed material for contextual grammatical typographical or spelling errors
  12. Interpersonal skills necessary to establish relationships effectively liaise communicate and follow instructions from the client fee earners staff and vendors and provide information with courtesy and tact
  13. Commitment to providing superior customer service
  14. Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers and personal computers including Microsoft Word.
  15. Thorough knowledge of Firm systems practices and procedures to effectively meet employee and department needs
  16. Interacting with clients and maintaining files
  17. Preparing attendance notes of meetings and calls.
  18. Assist in the drafting of transaction documentation for fee earners and assisting with post-closing work
  19. Work directly with fee earners and clients during due diligence and closing of transactions
  20. Assist fee earners to index organize documents correspondence memorandums fee earner notes
  21. Maintain current and accurate daily time record.
  22. Perform special projects as assigned
  23. Draft memos regarding the status of projects
Education and Experience

Completion of an undergraduate degree and / or a paralegal certificate are required for consideration

1-3 years of work experience as a paralegal
