BMA Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Care / Family Paralegal for a well-established Family Law team in Luton. You will support solicitors on private family matters and public care proceedings, drafting documents and preparing court bundles while liaising with clients and third parties.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a legal environment, preferably Family Law.
  • Exposure to private family matters and/or public care Proceedings is advantageous.
  • Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional and discreet handling of confidential information; proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
  • Familiarity with Court Portal, bundle preparation software, or legal aid processes is advantageous.
  • Law degree, GDL, LPC, SQE, or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors in managing private family law and public care proceedings.
  • Draft correspondence, witness statements, court applications, and legal documents.
  • Prepare and manage electronic court bundles and Court Portal filings.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries for fee earners.
  • Liaise with clients, barristers, social services, experts, and other third parties.
  • Assist with disclosure, evidence gathering, and expert instructions.
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
  • Record time and assist with billing where required.
  • Attend court hearings, client meetings, and conferences alongside solicitors as appropriate.

Our Client

This is a well-established Legal 500 firm with a strong Family Law practice advising clients across both private and public law matters. The team is recognised for providing compassionate, practical, and client-focused advice in sensitive family cases, including care proceedings, child arrangements, and other Children Act matters.

The firm offers a supportive and collaborative environment where paralegals work closely with experienced solicitors, gaining valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for career development within family law.

Role Overview

The firm is seeking a Care / Family Paralegal to join its growing Family team.

The successful candidate will support solicitors on a varied caseload covering both private family law and public care proceedings. The role offers excellent exposure to all stages of case progression, including drafting legal documents, preparing court bundles, liaising with clients and third parties, and assisting with court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
