Job summary

Wigan and Leigh College is seeking a lecturer to teach painting and decorating across practical and theory programmes. You will develop learners' trade knowledge, demonstrate safe workshop practices and assess progress.

Applicants should hold a relevant qualification in painting and decorating, Level 2 English and maths, and a recognised teaching qualification or be working towards one. An enhanced DBS check is required and you must be willing to work across college sites.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in painting and decorating or related construction discipline.
• Level 2 English and maths, or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
• A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
• Current or recent industry experience in painting and decorating.
• Experience teaching, training, coaching, mentoring or supporting others.
• Strong practical knowledge of painting and decorating techniques, materials and tools.
• Good understanding of workshop practice, safe working and industry standards.
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Teach painting and decorating across practical and theory programmes.
• Develop learners' trade knowledge, techniques and professional behaviours.
• Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, materials and workshop processes.
• Assess learner progress and give feedback to help students improve.
• Promote high standards of health, safety and professional conduct.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, progress and achievement.
• Support learners to progress into further study, apprenticeships or employment.
• Contribute to curriculum development, programme review and quality improvement.
• Support open evenings, recruitment activity and college events where required.
