Location: Hull & Surrounding Areas
Contract: Part-time, Permanent (3 days per week – flexible, with occasional out-of-hours or weekend work)

Avocet Trust is a respected charity providing housing and care services across Hull and East Yorkshire. We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Painter & Decorator with general maintenance experience to support our dedicated Maintenance Team.

This is a hands-on, varied role, perfect for someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in keeping properties safe, comfortable, and looking their best.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll assist with the day-to-day upkeep of Avocet Trust properties, ensuring a high standard of repair and presentation across all sites.

Your duties will include

  • Painting and decorating across a variety of residential properties
  • General maintenance, including basic plumbing, joinery, and general D.I.Y.
  • Repairing broken glass, damaged woodwork, fences, and gates
  • Garden and outdoor maintenance (grass cutting, cleaning guttering, etc.)
  • Moving furniture and equipment between sites
  • Completing maintenance records, risk assessments, and other paperwork
  • Supporting colleagues and residents with a flexible, can-do attitude

About You

We’re looking for someone practical, friendly, and dependable — with a genuine desire to contribute to our supportive team and charity.

You’ll need

  • Proven experience in painting, decorating, and general maintenance
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to complete paperwork and risk assessments accurately
  • Flexibility to work occasional out-of-hours or weekend shifts
  • All appointments are subject to a satisfactory DBS check
