Job summary

Sutton 1079's Francis Hotel in Bath is seeking a friendly Painter and Decorator/Maintenance Team Member to keep the property safe, comfortable and running smoothly for guests and staff.

You will work across guest rooms and public areas, carrying out painting, decorating and basic maintenance, respond to requests, and help prevent issues before they occur, with a weekend rota. Salary £28,480 per annum plus tronc. We value reliability, teamwork and a practical approach to maintenance.

Qualifications

• Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating, including sanding, filling, and priming
• Apply paint, wallpaper, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and fixtures
• Inspect guest rooms and public areas for cosmetic damage and wear
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as fixing doors, handles, locks, and fixtures
• Carry out minor plumbing repairs (e.g. fixing leaks, replacing taps)
• Handle simple electrical tasks such as changing light bulbs and fittings
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas and tools
• Ensure all decorating and maintenance work meets health and safety standards
• Respond promptly to maintenance and repair requests
• Work efficiently to minimise disruption to guests and hotel operations
• Assist with preventative maintenance to keep facilities in good condition
• Report any major faults or repairs that require specialist attention
• Weekend work - required on a Saturday every 2nd / 3rd weekend. Minimum 4hr

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable Painter and Decorator/Maintenance Team Member to help keep our hotel safe, comfortable, and running smoothly for guests and staff alike. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in a job well done, and understands that great maintenance is a big part of great hospitality.

You’ll work across guest rooms and shared spaces, responding to maintenance requests, carrying out repairs, and helping prevent issues before they happen. You’ll also interact with guests and colleagues, so a positive attitude and clear communication are just as important as technical skills.
