Job summary

A leading facilities management company is looking for a Painter & Decorator to join their team at HMP Lowdham Grange. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive painting within the prison, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining tools and materials. This role requires a NVQ qualification in Painting & Decorating and the ability to work alongside prisoners. Candidates must have relevant experience and be committed to promoting a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have NVQ 2 or 3 qualification in Painting & Decorating.
  • Experience in similar roles is essential.
  • Awareness of health and safety practices is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive paint work inside the prison.

  • Support zero carbon initiatives where applicable.

Job description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Painter & Decorator in HMP Lowdham Grange.

The standard hours of work are 39‑hours per week, Monday – Friday.

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The Painter/Decorator plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What you will do:
  • Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.
  • Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
  • Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
  • This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What you will bring:
  • Qualified to NVQ 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating.
  • Previous relevant work‑related experience.
  • Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
