Job summary

System Recruitment Limited is seeking a Paint Development Chemist for a leading British paint manufacturer near Manchester. The role covers R&D Laboratory work, product improvement, testing and scale-up from lab to production, with UK travel anticipated.

Ideal candidates will have experience in surface coatings (decorative paints), a science degree, and strong problem-solving abilities. Colour matching/quality control is a plus, and a UK driving licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in surface coatings, preferably decorative paints.
• Proven problem solving experience in coatings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine operation at the R&D Laboratory.
• Develop new formulations and produce samples.
• Plan a pilot plant and scale up products from lab trials to production.
• Analyse and evaluate raw materials and competitor products.
• Investigate and improve products and manufacturing processes.
• Communicate results to management and liaise with staff to remedy problems.
• Develop understanding of research and produce written/verbal reports.
