Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Paediatric Ward Manager for Ormskirk Hospital. This Band 7, full-time role leads the Children’s Ward (17 inpatient beds, 4 day case beds and a 6 bed Assessment and Observation Unit) caring for children aged 0–16 years.

The Ward Manager ensures safe, efficient, high-quality care with 24/7 leadership alongside the Paediatric Matron and other Paediatric Managers. Essential qualifications and experience are required.

Qualifications

• Registered Children’s Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Leadership training or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management to nursing and support staff for ward operations.
• Offer clinical leadership, advise on patient assessments and care plans; maintain records.
• Coordinate with other agencies on care and education programmes.
• Oversee ward/department budget management.
• Comply with NMC Code and professional standards.
