Job description

Our Children and Young People’s Integrated Therapies (CYPIT) West team is recruiting Band 6 Paediatric Speech & Language Therapists. The role involves working across Wokingham, Reading, and West Berkshire in special schools and resource bases, partnering with teaching staff and families to provide child‑centred care. Applications are processed as received, so vacancies may close early.

Responsibilities
  • Support children with a broad range of complex needs – e.g., autism, cerebral palsy, and rare genetic conditions.
  • Work in special schools and resource bases, building strong relationships with teaching staff and families.
  • Collaborate within a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists and assistants.
  • Manage your own caseload of children and young people (aged 4‑19) with complex communication needs.
  • Deliver assessment, therapy, intervention planning and training in schools and resource bases.
  • Contribute to EHCP processes and provide clear clinical documentation and reports.
  • Deliver impactful training to school staff and families.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Band 5 SLTs, assistants or students.
  • Use the Care Aims approach to ensure interventions are effective and outcomes‑focused.
  • Travel regularly to community locations across Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire.

Qualifications
  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, registered with the HCPC.

  • Car driver with a UK licence (or equivalent ability to travel between community sites efficiently).
