Overview

The post holder will work in the paediatric neuroinflammatory service in Oxford with opportunities to gain experience in diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, MOGAD, and autoimmune encephalitis. The post is aimed at individuals wishing to develop specialty skills in the diagnosis and management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders.

Responsibilities

The post holder will, under consultant supervision, provide inpatient and outpatient management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders. This includes attending outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, arranging admissions for investigations and disease‑modifying treatments, completing monthly and annual reporting, completing blue taq forms and MDT discussion proformas, and attending general neurology clinics and neurology MDT meetings.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC licence to practice
  • Evidence of interest in a neurologically associated specialty (adult or paediatric)
  • MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months NHS experience
  • Ability to undertake direct original clinical research in the neurosciences
  • General core medical or paediatric training completed according to training requirements
  • Leadership – ability to motivate and aid other members of the team
  • Organisational skills
  • Good personal/interpersonal skills
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Able to take on responsibility and communicate within the team
  • Basic computing skills
