Job description
Overview

As a member of the Paediatric Ward team, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, family‑centred care to children and young people with a broad spectrum of medical and surgical conditions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in collaboration with children, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Safely administer medications, monitor and respond to changes in clinical condition, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to discharge planning.
  • Support children and their families during potentially stressful times, offering reassurance, education and emotional support.
  • Liaise with various health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care and a holistic approach to treatment; participate in safeguarding processes, attend relevant meetings and follow up on concerns appropriately.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, uphold infection control standards and promote a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training and clinical audits or projects.
Qualifications
  • Well‑organised, motivated and enthusiastic nurse, proactive and forward‑thinking, in line with the Band 6 sister role.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and team‑working skills, with the ability to support and deliver paediatric care using effective leadership and management skills.
  • Capability to support and share the vision of the Senior Nursing team and support junior nursing and clinical team members.
