Bedford Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Family Care Assistant. This Band 3 role plays a vital part in supporting patients and their families across a variety of care settings within the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Family Care Assistant, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you'll help maintain a supportive environment for patients and their families, ensuring dignity, comfort, and respect are upheld at all times.

Main duties of the job: To assist the trained staff in the delivery of care to children and their families, ensuring the highest possible standards of care are received by children and their families / carers while on the unit, under the supervision of qualified staff.

Responsibilities
  • Basic observations and admission assessments of babies, children and young people under the supervision of a qualified nurse/nurse associate.
  • Basic phlebotomy skills on babies, children and young people under the supervision of a qualified nurse/nurse associate.
  • Use of Electronic Patient Record (EPR) to record observations under the supervision of a qualified nurse/nurse associate.
  • Support children and young people, in collaboration with their parents and carers, with basic hygiene needs.
  • Support children and young people, in collaboration with their parents and carers, with food, fluids and other basic nutritional requirements (including patients with eating disorders).
