Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an experienced emergency nurse with a paediatric focus for a fixed-term/secondment post of 10 months in its Children’s Emergency Department. The role emphasizes evidence-based nursing care, assessment, planning and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsabilités

• Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus in paediatrics
• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in evidence based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers
• Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Boards policies
• When competent, to be able to utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage and apply emergency plaster casts
• To respond safely to an emergency and elevate any concerns
• To support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order
• Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues
• To demonstrate effective communication skills
• To act as an advocate when representing the patients
• To have the ability to work as part of a large team, use delegation skills and prioritise care
• Participate in health promotion
• To support the nurse in charge with care and decision making
• To ensure all statutory and mandatory training is in date
• Be responsible for administrating medications to patients
• To ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guideline
