Job summary

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing is seeking a compassionate Paediatric Care Assistant to support children with complex needs in Exeter. You will work across multiple packages, providing clinical and personal care within home and community settings.

Comprehensive training is provided, with DBS processing and ongoing support from clinical nurses. Weekly pay and holiday pay are offered, along with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months UK care experience is desirable; full training provided.
  • Paediatric or complex care experience is beneficial; willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships with non-verbal individuals.
  • Ability to follow detailed care plans and protocols precisely.
  • Proactive, observant, able to notice subtle changes in a patient\'s condition.
  • Provide Right to Work documents and DBS certificate; we can assist with a new application.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care under supervision of the school nursing team (e.g., tracheostomy care, oxygen monitoring, tube feeding, medications).
  • Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, and dignity in care.
  • Encourage participation in classroom activities and social interactions.
  • Undergo specialist training to competently perform care tasks (suction, tracheostomy, tube feeding).
  • Pursue career progression and ongoing professional development.
  • Receive support from Office Team, Registered Managers and Clinical Nurses.
  • Weekly pay via PAYE or Umbrella Schemes;Holiday Pay.

About the role:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Paediatric Care Assistant who can support across multiple packages within the Exeter area. You will be caring for our Children service users who have complex needs such as Tracheostomy, Oxygen monitoring and therapy, Oral suction, Ventilation, Tubing feeding and more. Our Paediatric Healthcare Assistants roles are considered more of a companionship role by building up key relationships and promoting independence through daily tasks for our service user within their own home and especially within the community.

Clinical Care:

Providing dedicated clinical care under the guidance of the school nursing team. This includes tracheostomy care and management, tube feeding, medication management, oxygen monitoring, oral suction, ventilation and basic life support

Personal Care:

Assisting with all aspects of personal hygiene, toileting, and pad changes with dignity and respect.

Engagement & Social Support:

Encouraging and supporting participation in classroom activities and social interactions with peers.

Specialist Training:

Comprehensive theoretical and practical training is provided to ensure you are fully competent and confident in all aspects of clinical care, including suction, tracheostomy, tube feeding and more

Career Development:

Genuine opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional development.

Supportive Team:

You will be part of a wider team with ongoing support from our Office Team, Registered Managers, and dedicated Clinical Nurses.

Weekly Pay

via PAYE or Umbrella Schemes.

Requirements for the Role:

We are looking for a patient, observant, and kind-hearted individual who is passionate about making a difference in a young person's life.

  • A minimum of 6 months of professional UK Care experience is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
  • Paediatric or complex care experience is beneficial, but a willingness to learn is most important.
  • Excellent communication skills and the patience to build a strong, understanding relationship with a non-verbal individual.
  • The ability to follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously.
  • A proactive and observant nature, able to spot subtle changes in an individual's condition.
  • To provide the correct compliance documents, including an updated Right to Work and a valid DBS certificate (we can assist with a new application).
