Job description

We require an enthusiastic person to lead the friendly and hard-working paediatric audiology team at West Ham Lane Health Centre (Newham).

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a busy environment; the applicant will have extensive clinical experience working in a paediatric audiology department. They must confident in complex paediatric audiology assessments and habilitation.

In view of the nature of the service, it is essential you are able to deal calmly with children, young people and families who may at times be feeling anxious or distressed.

The Audiology service is managed by Barts Health and we cover five districts in East London - Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney, Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Newham. We provide a service at many health centres and hospitals including West Ham Lane Health Centre,The Royal London Hospital, hackney Ark, Wood street and Loxford Polyclinic. This post holder will be responsible for West ham Lane Health Centre. Our team is made up of over 50 staff including Audiologists, a hearing therapist, newborn hearing screeners and clerical staff. We are about to embark on an exciting project to achieve IQIPS accreditation having received a significant amount of investment from the trust to complete this.

Although based at West Ham Lane health centre you may be asked to provide cover at other local sites within the wider Audiology service.

Main duties of the job

To have delegated responsibility for the provision and strategic development of the third tier paediatric audiology service serving Newham residents, with support of the lead audio-vestibular physician

To undertake audiological diagnostic assessments and habilitation of children, including leading/supervising Audiologist led sessions and working jointly with the lead audio-vestibular physician and other team members.

The post holder will be the professional lead for paediatric audiology in Newham providing expert knowledge about paediatric audiology and related issues, and supporting/advising the local newborn hearing screening programmes and allied services.

#The post holder will be required to work efficiently and effectively, managing staff members and their own clinical caseload. Candidates will be expected to undertake a range of clinical duties including complex paediatric audiology assessment and habilitation. Experience in line management and providing clinical supervision and training is essential.

  • Up to Date knowledge of hearing aid technology and BSA recommended procedures

Qualifications
