Job description

The East and North Hertfordshire (ENH) NHS Trust isseeking a dedicated professional to support the delivery of an effective PaediatricAudiology Service across all hospital sites, including Lister Hospital, QueenElizabeth II Hospital, and Hertford County Hospital. The role involvesperforming a range of routine audiological testssuch as Masking, MaximumComfortable Level, Loudness Discomfort Level, Tests for Non-Organic HearingLoss, VRA, and Maskingfor patients of all age groups. You will be required tovisit the Lister Hospital site as required.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you willplay a key role in ensuring accurate assessments and high-quality care forpaediatric patients and their families. You will be responsible for conductingroutine paediatric audiology assessments for children aged 35 years and 5years and above, including referrals as appropriate. This includes performingVisual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA), Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) such as TOAEand SOAE, tympanometry, Performance and Play Audiometry, and Acoustic Reflextesting (ipsilateral, contralateral, and reflex decay) across all age groups.

Job responsibilities
  • To assistsenior colleagues in assessing complex paediatric audiology cases, includingelectrophysiological tests such as ABR, ASSR, and cortical testing.
  • To prepare fulland comprehensive reports for medical staff, including provisional diagnoses,ensuring accurate communication of findings.
  • To fit digitalhearing aids, take aural impressions for all age groups, provide counsellingfor hearing aid users, and undertake inpatient and domiciliary hearing aid workas required.
  • To ensure allaudiology equipment is maintained and calibrated according to BSA standards andmanage stock safely and effectively.
  • To assist,supervise, and train audiology staff, providing guidance, seminars, and supportin service delivery and new techniques, including audits and research projects.
  • To apply goodprofessional practice in all work, including adherence to health and safetyregulations and COSHH, maintain patient confidentiality, provide care withdignity and respect, and undertake any other duties as directed by seniorcolleagues or the Audiology Service Manager.
