Job summary

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford is seeking a motivated Paediatric Nurse to join the Emergency Department team. You will assist and support paediatric nursing care on duty, contribute to a high standard of patient-centred care, and work closely with relatives and carers.

The role emphasises safeguarding and child resuscitation guidance, evidence-based practice, and the supervision of unqualified staff, with opportunities to develop within a compassionate, collaborative Trust.

Qualifications

• Assist and support paediatric nursing care in the A&E department on duty.
• Provide guidance on child protection and paediatric resuscitation.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care reflecting competencies and education.
• Ensure care is evidence-based and involves relatives/carers as appropriate.
• Assess paediatric patients entering the ED and prioritise treatment; supervise staff as required.

Responsibilities

• To assist and support all paediatric nursing care in the A&E department when on duty.
• To provide support and guidance to other team members regarding child protection and resuscitation.
• To deliver a high standard of individualised patient care involving relatives/carers as appropriate.
• To ensure care is evidence based and patient centred.
• To assess paediatric clients entering the Emergency Department, prioritise treatment, deliver care and evaluate outcomes.
• Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and demonstrate procedures while supervising unqualified staff.
