Job summary

Magnum Ice Cream Company in Colworth is seeking a Packaging Technologist to translate consumer insights and technical requirements into packaging solutions. You will lead packaging development from brief to scale, focusing on innovation, renovation, cost savings, and waste reduction across the portfolio.

You will collaborate with brand development, supply chain, procurement, product development, processing, CTI, CMI, and packaging suppliers to deliver consumer-focused, compliant packaging

Responsibilities

• Translate consumer insights, technical requirements and business needs into packaging solutions.
• Lead & support packaging development from brief definition through to proving manufacture at scale on innovation, renovation and cost-saving projects.
• Deliver packaging that meets quality and technical standards and delights consumers with packaging excellence.
• Liaise with packaging converters and material suppliers in the development of packaging components.
• Test and validate the technical specifications of packaging components.
• Identify and implement potential cost-saving activities across the packaging portfolio.
• Comply with safety, health and environmental requirements and quality policies.

Job Title : Packaging Technologist
Location : Colworth

Job Purpose

• have responsibility for specific ice cream brands supporting their packaging manager in delivering the overall innovation programme whilst also looking longer term at the brand packaging needs.
• be responsible to work closely with packaging managers in delivering the sustainability agenda and meeting European and local regulations including Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations.
• be responsible to deliver packaging targets including cost saving ideas and waste reduction activities.
• interface with brand development, supply chain, procurement, product development, processing, CTI, CMI, and packaging suppliers to drive consumer focused innovative and optimised packaging solutions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate consumer insights, technical requirements and business needs into packaging solutions.
• Lead & support packaging development from brief definition through to proving manufacture at scale on innovation, renovation and operational (cost savings, quality, complexity reduction) projects, on time in full, by following best practice in packaging.
• Deliver packaging which not only meets the required quality and technical standards but also delights the consumer and builds brand love through using appropriate packaging excellence best practices.
• Liaise with packaging converters and material suppliers in the development of packaging components.
• To test and validate the technical specifications of packaging components.
• Identify and implement potential cost saving activities across the packaging portfolio.
• To comply with the code of business principles, all safety, health and environmental requirements and quality policies, including the support of product claims, risk management and environmental awareness
