We are looking for a warm, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 22‑year‑old autistic young adult with learning difficulties. The role is based in Wadhurst, East Sussex, close to Tunbridge Wells.
He is gentle, affectionate and passionate about music, gaming, and anything mechanical—from trains and tractors to cars and quad‑bikes. He enjoys hands‑on tasks such as fixing things, woodwork and practical outdoor activities, and he has an incredible memory for routes and directions.
Communication can at times be challenging due to limited vocabulary and confidence, and he may repeat words or mumble when frustrated, but he is not violent and simply withdraws when overwhelmed. Epilepsy is managed with medication.
He attends a structured farm‑based programme twice a week, where he enjoys woodwork, land management and mechanical tasks. At home, he is working on building independence with everyday skills such as choosing appropriate clothing, cooking, cleaning and time management. He uses a smartwatch to organise his day and appreciates gentle support when routines change. He also loves helping with family dogs and is open to finding a physical activity to build fitness.
We are seeking someone calm, positive and encouraging who can help develop his confidence, independence and enjoyment in daily life.
If you're compassionate, dependable and genuinely interested in supporting an autistic young adult, we'd love to hear from you.
