Job summary

Ion recruitment is seeking an Applications Engineer (Mechanical) in Dumbarton to focus on P&ID / technical applications. You will prepare, revise and maintain P&IDs using CAD tools, support product selection, perform pressure and flow calculations, and present technical proposals to customers.

The role combines engineering depth with client engagement, tender support, and opportunities to contribute to product improvements within a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics and mechanics from first principles.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
• Proven experience preparing and revising P&IDs using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Edge or similar).
• Experience with technical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, revise, and maintain P&IDs using CAD tools.
• Provide technical support for product selection, configuration, and applications.
• Perform pressure and flow calculations for industrial systems.
• Review technical proposals and orders to identify and mitigate risks.
• Create and deliver technical presentations and reports to customers.
