Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

Salary: £23,608 actual

Contract: Permanent, 37hrs a week

A SEN/PRU Specialist Primary School in Bournemouth is seeking a dedicated P.E. Learning Mentor to join their team!

The Role

You will be responsible for the planning and running of your own sessions within the school, while keeping individual learning preferences at the forefront of your mind!

This role calls for a proactive and imaginative approach to designing curriculum experiences that inspire pupils to learn beyond the classroom. All pupils will have some form of special educational need such as:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH)
  • Conduct Disorders (CD)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Speech and Language difficulties
  • Other behavioural needs

The sessions you lead will foster a positive learning environment and be of the highest quality to provide support tailored to their individual needs. The goal is to enrich cultural capital and provide meaningful experiences that nurture pupils’ growth into adulthood.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Applicant must be comfortable supporting children with challenging behaviour
  • SEMH / SEND experience
  • Extensive background in sports
  • Able to collaborate with other teachers and support staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
Working Hours / Benefits
  • Full Time, Term Time only (39 weeks a year)
  • Monday – Thursday = 08:00-16:00
  • Friday = 08:00-15:30
