Job summary

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Oversight Lead - Core PC.

This role within the Product Control (PC) Oversight team serves a critical function in ensuring the accurate valuation and accounting of the Markets business's Balance Sheet and P&L. It involves overseeing significant trade reviews, new business initiatives, and projects, while driving continuous improvement in processes and controls. The role also engages with senior stakeholders, offering insights and summaries to management, and requires strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight and Escalation: Provide oversight and escalation for Core Product Control activities, ensuring processes and controls are accurately followed for a business's Balance Sheet and P&L.
  • Process and Control Adherence: Ensure that daily P&L production, risk and roll-based P&L explain, P&ampL commentary, and month-end reporting activities adhere to the minimum standards set out in the Product Control Framework.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a continuous improvement program for all activities, increasing efficiency and controls through procedures and systems change processes.
  • Collaboration and Presentation: Work with Valuations and CFOs to deliver a transparent view of the P&L and Balance Sheet and present the business view to traders and trading management.
  • Training and Mentoring: Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and mentoring to support their development and performance.
Candidate Requirements
  • Knowledge of Markets Products>: Good knowledge of Global Markets businesses is important for understanding the specific financial products and their implications.
  • Accounting Qualification or Experience: Either be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) and has knowledge of Markets’ products or qualified by experience working in a Markets Product Control role.
  • Product Control Experience: Experience in a Product Control P&L function with a strong control focus and understanding of the Product Control workflow.
  • Motivation and Leadership: Being ambitious, motivated, a "self-starter" who can motivate a team, including remotely.
  • Analytical Skills: analytical are essential for analysing the daily P&L, P&L trends and Balance Sheet movement.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to interact with management and stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, are required to handle data and perform analysis efficiently.
  • Relationship Management: Excellent relationship management skills to engage with key senior stakeholders and provide summaries of issues and business insights.
  • Autonomy and Accountability: Experience working proactively both independently and in teams, with familiarity in environments where high levels of autonomy and accountability are expected.
Location

The base location for this role will be Edinburgh and with a hybrid working pattern.
