Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust Overseas Visitors Team working closely with colleagues and supported by the Overseas Visitors Manager, to identify all Overseas Visitors being treated by the Trust. In this varied and interesting niche role, you will be responsible for assessing eligibility for NHS funded care and application of cost recovery processes where applicable in accordance with the NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations.

The successful candidate will have exceptional proven customer service skills who is able to communicate effectively, maintaining the utmost professional standards and have the ability to remain non judgemental and compassionate at all times whilst ensuring compliance to Trust values. We are looking for an individual to join the team who is a collaborative team player with a strong drive to learn new knowledge and skills.

Whilst previous experience of working in a hospital setting will be beneficial, having the right personal attributes are essential and ongoing training and support will be provided in ensuring the successful candidate will be confident and able to excel in the role.

Main Duties
  • To demonstrate excellent customer care and communication skills, being aware of other cultures and religions whilst dealing with overseas patients and ensuring that vulnerable groups are not discriminated against.
  • To be familiar with the Overseas Visitor guidance issued by the Department of Health.
  • Identify and interview potential Overseas Visitors to ascertain eligibility to receive NHS treatment.
  • Obtain, check and interpret relevant documentation from patients in order to identify NHS eligibility.
  • Members of the Overseas Visitors team will be required to meet patients, explain regulations and discuss payment options prior to admission, ensuring sensitivity to support patients and their families.
  • To act as a point of contact for Trust employees and advise them on the application of the Department of Health guidelines.
  • Liaise with relevant external agencies.
  • Ensure that the appropriate charges for the treatment of overseas patients are quoted and collected.
  • Work with the information and finance departments to ensure overseas patient activity is identified, recorded and billed.
  • Maintain a database of all Overseas Visitors, detailing patient details, action taken, details of procedures, cost, invoicing, exemption status.
  • Support the Overseas Visitor Manager in providing training and ongoing support to clinical staff and managers.
