Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks a residential support worker for Woodland Lodge in Huntingdon and Haviland Way in Cambridge. This zero-hours relief post involves hands-on care for young people aged 8 to 18 with disabilities or additional needs, across overnight breaks, day care and outings.

Shifts include weekends and bank holidays. Enhanced DBS with barred lists checks are required, with induction and ongoing professional development provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan and organise your day.
• Understanding of technology used to aid young people's communication.
• Ability to communicate appropriately with children, young people, families, colleagues and external agencies.
• Basic knowledge of IT packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Support young people during their stay across all aspects of their care.
• Communicate, engage and encourage participation in local activities and events.
• Promote a safe environment where young people can thrive and have fun.
• Advocate on behalf of children and young people.
• Support activities inside and outside homes, such as cinema, climbing and seaside trips.
• Record observations and carry out administrative processes as needed.
