We are open to speaking with ideally Principal/Senior or Experienced Overhead Line Design Engineers in relation to exploring future opportunities in line with our growth strategy to join our Transmission & Distribution team, with roles based in any of our UK offices.

As an Overhead Line Design Engineer within our team, you will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of OHL projects – producing and reviewing technical documents in line with industry standards. This varied role includes developing design criteria, conductor and structure type selection, insulation coordination, and lightning performance analysis.

You will develop typical OHL design deliverables such as line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables, and special crossings design. You will conduct feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, structural) to ensure overall project integrity.

About you:

  • You will ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering or relevant industry experience, especially if coming from a hands-on/construction background.
  • CEng, IEng registration, or working towards registration would be beneficial.
  • You will have experience as an Overhead Line Design Engineer or similar role working on Transmission and Distribution projects, preferably with a background in design consultancy, design/build contracting, or asset ownership.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD for new OHL designs and modifications, and familiarity with UK design requirements, is essential.
  • Beneficial if you have a strong understanding of related T&D disciplines such as HV Plant design, HV Cable design, or T&D Civil design. A broad background with a specialty in OHL is preferred.
  • Experience in developing OHL deliverables and managing project workload across multiple projects is important.
  • You should be a team player with a passion for innovation and client service, eager to tackle engineering challenges as our sector continues to grow.
