Job description

Join our team as an Oven Operator and be at the heart of our production process.

In our factory in Merthyr Tydfil, we produce and pack up to 50 tons of wafer, marshmallow bars, toffees and eclairs per day on a large variety of production and packaging lines and machines. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone who values quality, safety, and teamwork in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. You’ll operate and maintain oven systems, ensure products meet high standards, and gain valuable cross‑departmental experience with full training and support. Your responsibilities as an Oven Operator
  • Operate and maintain all ovens within the department, ensuring full training and competency.
  • Perform pre‑production checks including Health & Safety and guard inspections before starting ovens.
  • Set up ovens according to the production plan, adjusting temperature, speed, and batter specifications.
  • Ensure batter quality and consistency using internal specifications and communicate with relevant departments (Cream Floor, Pasting Belt Operator, Key Operator) regarding changes or issues.
  • Complete all required documentation and report any out‑of‑specification results.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues, including flushing wash water, adjusting pipework, and managing batter tanks and sprays.
  • Conduct batter changeovers, clean and reassemble equipment, and ensure correct operation of cyclone systems.
  • Perform quality checks on wafers and pack finished products.
  • Use tools such as robot coupe and Datatec moisture analyser to monitor and adjust product quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness through ‘clean‑as‑you‑go’ practices and complete cleaning tasks as directed.
  • Train and support new staff, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
