Morgan Hunt is seeking an Outreach Worker to join the Street Homeless Outreach team in West Yorkshire. The role focuses on engaging with rough sleepers, helping them access housing, healthcare and vital services, and building trust with service users in frontline settings.

The position involves working as part of a dedicated team, promoting harm reduction and advocacy, with a commitment to safeguarding and person-centered support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable people, preferably in homelessness or outreach.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build rapport.
• Knowledge of homelessness issues, safeguarding, and support services.
• Flexible schedule, including early mornings and late evenings.
• Good record-keeping and IT skills for case management.
• Valid driving licence and vehicle for work.
• Training in mental health, substance misuse, or trauma-informed care.

Organisations work with individuals sleeping rough, providing them with practical support, advocacy, and access to vital services. Their mission is to reduce homelessness and empower those we serve to rebuild their lives.

The Role

As a Street Homeless Outreach Worker, you will be at the frontline of efforts to support rough sleepers, engaging with individuals directly on the streets and in areas where they are known to sleep. You will work as part of a dedicated team, building trust with service users and helping them to access housing, healthcare, and other essential services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct outreach shifts, engaging with rough sleepers in designated areas.
• Build trusting relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Provide advice on housing options, benefits, and available support services.
• Work closely with local authorities, housing providers, health services, and other agencies to secure appropriate support for clients.
• Maintain accurate records and case notes to track progress and inform service delivery.
• Advocate on behalf of service users, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
• Promote harm reduction and well-being strategies tailored to individuals' needs.

The candidate

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness. You will be a strong communicator, able to engage effectively with vulnerable individuals and work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.
