Job summary

The Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is seeking an Outreach Nurse to deliver specialist sexual health and contraception services to young people and vulnerable populations across Northamptonshire. The role spans community venues, outreach locations, clinic hubs and spoke sites, with a focus on accessible, person-centred care.

You will provide STI testing and treatment, contraception and emergency contraception, vaccinations, BBV testing, phlebotomy and long-acting contraception,

Responsibilities

• Provide nurse-led sexual health and contraception care to young people and vulnerable service users across Northamptonshire, delivering assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management within community outreach settings and clinic environments.
• Deliver specialist sexual and reproductive healthcare interventions, including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, emergency contraception, pregnancy options advice, vaccinations, blood-borne virus testing, phlebotomy, and long-acting reversible contraception, including subdermal implants and intrauterine contraception.
• Undertake and support outreach activities across Northamptonshire, including community drop-ins, educational settings, outreach venues and one-off events, improving access to sexual health services and reducing health inequalities.
• Work collaboratively with partner organisations, including education, mental health, housing, pharmacy, substance misuse and youth services, to provide integrated sexual health care, health promotion, training and support for service users

Job description

The Outreach Nurse will play a key role in delivering specialist sexual health and contraception services to young people and vulnerable populations across Northamptonshire. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team within Northamptonshire Integrated Sexual Health and HIV Services (NISHH), the post holder will provide high-quality, person-centred care in a variety of settings, including community venues, outreach locations, clinic hubs and spoke sites.

The Outreach Nurse will provide a range of sexual and reproductive healthcare interventions, including sexual health testing and treatment, contraception and emergency contraception provision, blood-borne virus screening, vaccination programmes, and advice and signposting relating to pregnancy choices and sexual wellbeing. The role will also contribute to the development and delivery of outreach initiatives, young people's services, training programmes and health promotion activities across the county.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, service users and partner organisations, the post holder will help shape and develop outreach services, ensuring care is accessible, safe, effective and responsive to the needs of Northamptonshire's diverse communities.
