Outpatients Vascular Nurse – NHS Hospitals

Location: Mid / South Wales (NHS Outpatient Departments)

Contract: Locum / Temporary / Permanent

SJK Healthcare is urgently recruiting an experienced Vascular Outpatient Nurse to support vascular clinics across Mid / South Wales NHS hospitals. This role is ideal for a skilled nurse with strong experience in vascular, surgical, or wound care who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting consultant-led vascular outpatient clinics
  • Conducting patient assessments & clinical observations
  • Reviewing vascular symptoms, including claudication, ulceration & post‑op concerns
  • Wound care duties include:
    • Compression bandaging
    • Dressing leg ulcers
    • Managing chronic wounds
    • Assisting with Doppler assessments (if trained)
  • Preparing patients for minor vascular procedures
  • Providing lifestyle advice for vascular conditions (smoking cessation, exercise, diet)
  • Managing telephone / virtual follow‑up clinics
  • Ensuring accurate clinical documentation in line with NHS standards
  • Liaising with vascular surgeons, HCAs, and the MDT
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (NMC PIN required)
  • Minimum 1 year of vascular, surgical, or wound‑care nursing in UK NHS Hospitals
  • Strong understanding of peripheral vascular disease
  • Competency in wound care and compression therapy
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a clinical team
  • You must be living in the UK and have the right to work in the UK
