Job summary

The Harbour Hospital in Poole, part of Circle Health Group, is hiring a Healthcare Assistant for the Outpatients department. This full-time post covers 37.5 hours per week and involves a flexible shift pattern.

Role responsibilities include assisting with personal care, eating and nutrition, and recording routine observations after training. Applicants should have care experience and good communication skills, with NVQ Level 2/3 desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care
