Job summary

The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for Outpatients & Pre-Assessment. This 37.5 hour-per-week permanent role involves working across site with dual-site travel to The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe.

You will assist patients with personal care, monitoring observations, and support clinical tasks under supervision. The role supports a caring, patient-centred environment within Circle Health Group.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care
