Job summary

Warwickshire County Council’s Rights of Way Team is seeking a practical Ranger/Volunteer Coordinator to support maintenance and improvement of public rights of way across the county. You will be based at Budbrooke Depot and work with colleagues, volunteers and landowners to deliver practical improvements on the ground.

The role combines outdoor activity with volunteer coordination, safety, problem solving and partnership working, offering hands-on involvement and an opportunity to make a lasting

Qualifications

• Ability to work outdoors in a hands-on environment.
• Ability to plan and supervise minor construction or maintenance works.
• Experience using power tools with appropriate certification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out practical works to open, maintain and improve public rights of way, including gates, stiles, bridges, surfacing and drainage.
• Plan, programme and supervise work undertaken by volunteer groups.
• Provide on-site training, instruction and supervision to volunteers, including safe use of tools.
• Ensure volunteer activity and practical works are carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety requirements and risk assessments.
• Liaise with volunteer groups, community service managers and other partners to support effective deployment of volunteers.
• Provide logistical support, including ordering, storing, transporting and maintaining tools, equipment and materials.
• Manage and maintain assets required for service delivery, including vehicles, plant, power tools, hand tools and consumable stock.
• Liaise and negotiate with landowners on access and related matters.
